6. Destination where you want to install the VMware Server software, you can leave it as default and click Next to continue.



7. It will be better to disabled the Windows CD-ROM auto run feature, because your guest OS CD device may mounted directly to your CD-ROM, ensure the Yes disable autorun is Ticked and click Next to continue.



8. Above is the last step of installation wizard configuration click Install to begin the installation.



9. Do not interrupt the installation until it completed, for my case this completed in less than 10 minutes.



10. In this stage you need to key in the Serial Number that VMware send to your registered email, you need to Activate the account.
Fill the User Name, and Copy and Paste the Serial Number and Click Enter to Continue.



11. And now VMware is successful installed, you need to reboot your system so that the step 7 that disabling the CD-ROM autorun is taking effect

Simple guide to install VMware Server 1.0.8.

Please note that even though this is a free to use software you need to register yourself in order to get the Serial Number, which you need it later. Just go to VMware website register and download the software.


1. Download VMware Server 1.0.8 Build 126538 and execute the VMware-server-installer-1.0.8-126538.exe



2. Click Next to Continue.




3. Tick I Accept the terms in the license agreement and Click Next to continue.



4.Tick the Complete for the complete installation type and click Next to continue.




5. If your PC or Notebook do not have Ms IIS configured or installed you will be prompted following warning, just like my notebook.
Click OK to continue installing VMware Server without the VMware Management Interface. So Click Ok to continue.
